Bernard is a career banker, and began his career with AIB Group, moving onto Ulster Bank Group where he held the position of Chief Executive of the Lombard (IRL) and JCB Finance (UK) the Bank’s Asset Finance divisions. After thirteen years with Ulster he then moved to Bank of Scotland and headed their Retail and Intermediary business in the Republic of Ireland with a complement of 750 staff.
Bernard is a fellow of the Institute of Bankers, past Chairman of the Irish Mortgage Council, Director of the Irish Credit Bureau and member of International Finance & Leasing Association. Bernard has held a wide variety of both Executive and non-executive board positions over the past twenty years.
